About
“Piece of Mind” is a 72-page color skateboarding zine documented from March 2020 through the end of the year in Austin, Texas. It features skate and lifestyle photos of friends, interviews with Trey Wade and Xavier Ortega, a short story by Dylan Jones, and a song mix by Alan Bell.
Below the zine are the skate videos that coincide with the Trey and Xavier interviews from inside the zine. Captured moments from the zine appear in the videos, giving each a complementary perspective.
Trey Wade – Video Part (2020)
One of my best friends, Treveon Wade, is one of the most talented skateboarders out in Texas right now. A few years ago before he was known about or sponsored, we went hard for nearly all of 2019 to film his first official video part that showcased his potential and personality on and off the skateboard.
The year following the release of this footage rewarded Trey with sponsorships from multiple brands like Vans, Carhartt, Ace Trucks, and Uma Landsleds. Although I've put down the video camera, Trey and I continue to do photo work for all of his sponsors and I like to think of this video as our testament to that.

Xavier Ortega – Video Part (2020)
Xavier Ortega was like the big brother I didn't have during my growing days in high school. I grew up in a small town outside of San Antonio with a lack of skateboarders, and he was one of the few willing to trust me to film his skate clips even though I was younger and more amateur.
Following the release of our first skate video "Being Human" in 2019, we were itching to get back in the streets together and work towards finishing a new video part. Working on this second video part allowed us to express and celebrate our growth visually.
