Dylan Makar (b. 2000) is an Austin, Texas-based photographer, designer, and conceptual thinker constantly looking to connect the dots and discover new ones. In middle school Dylan made gaming YouTube videos, teaching himself how to use Photoshop and After Effects. A few years later he was gifted his Papa’s old film camera, fully sparking his creative and photographic journey. His work covers a wide range of brands, people, sports, concerts, landscapes, and everyday moments happening around him.
Dylan works with the foundational idea of visual storytelling. His camera has essentially become an extension of his body and his eye is trained to see narrative moments before they happen, editorially capture them as they unfold, and never miss a detail. His time spent in college taught him to see the bigger picture; how photographs and communicative design can combine and create powerful brands. His commercial work aims to build a personal, consistent, and versatile library of visual assets for his clients.
Dylan graduated from the BFA Communication Design Program at Texas State University in Fall 2023. Driven by a relentless need to connect and conceptualize, he continues to expand his toolbox and network while adapting his skillset to create more meaningful work.
